Description

Some late model Acura vehicles use the new Low Profile Clamp PG168 Type 3 inboard boot band on the rear drive shafts. These boot bands fasten by means of a load retaining hook that engages into an opening in a predetermined location on the band to provide the exact specified tension on the joint boot. This is vastly different from the traditional boot band where the target tension is not always achieved due to variations in crimping forces.

To remove and install the Low Profile Clamp PG168 Type 3 inboard boot bands, a special pair of pincers is required. The Oetiker OET14100115 Hand Installation Pincers features a D-shaped jaw tip specifically designed to grab and pull the tensioning hooks on the PG168 Type 3 band together. Compound action provides high mechanical advantage with high closing forces, allowing the installer to apply lower hand forces for more comfort and reduced fatigue.
